1993 Finisterre earthquakes: This earthquake was the first and the largest in an earthquake sequence that affected the Ramu-Markham Valley that affected the area over the month of October. 60 people were killed and 200 were injured, mostly due to landslides triggered by the shocks. Many villages near the epicenter were severely damaged.
