Felixstowe Pier is a pleasure pier in the Edwardian seaside town of Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. The pier opened in August 1905 with a total length of 2,640 feet (800 m) and was once one of the longest in the country.
Felixstowe Pier was a railway station on the Felixstowe Branch Line built in 1877 the site of which is now within the boundary of the Port of Felixstowe.There were a number of sidings that served the docks that were situated to the north of the line as well as one that served the seaplane (and subsequent military) bases on the south side.
Felixstowe Pier. The pier was opened in 1906, rebuilt in late 2017, and re-opened in 2018. During the Second World War the majority of the pier, at the time one of the longest in the country and complete with its own train, was purposely demolished by the Royal Engineers to prevent it from being used as an easy landing point for enemy troops.
When the Felixstowe line first opened the trains terminated in another track on the southern side of the up platform, alongside which is the old Felixstowe Railway and Pier Company building, now no longer used by the railway. Felixstowe trains curve to the right at Westerfield Junction as they leave the station to join the Felixstowe branch line.
