Henry County is a county in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, its population was 17,146. [1] Its county seat is Abbeville. [2] The county was named for Patrick Henry (1736–1799), famous orator and Governor of Virginia. [3] Henry County is part of the Dothan, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The house changed hands several times before being acquired by William and Mollie Kennedy in 1885. The Kennedys, who were Henry County farmers, used it as a town house. It remained in the family until 1974, when it was purchased by the local Board of Education. The house was later owned by the Abbeville Chamber of Commerce. [3]
