East Central College was founded in 1968 to serve the educational needs of the people in east central Missouri. In that same year 114 acres (46.1 ha) were purchased for what is now the main campus. [3] Classes began in rented facilities at the Union Memorial Auditorium in September 1969 with enrollment of 476 students the first semester.
The university was founded as East Central State Normal School in 1909, two years after Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th U.S. state.It was one of the six newly created state funded normal schools that were designed to provide four years of "preparatory" (or high school) study, followed by two years of college work towards teacher certification.
East Central Community College (ECCC) is a public community college in Decatur, Mississippi. ECCC serves a five-county district: Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston counties. It opened in September 1928. [1]

Its primary locations were in Fitzgerald and Ocilla, with a satellite and extended campuses located in Douglas, Pearson, and Rochelle. The school served the counties of Ben Hill/Irwin, Coffee, Atkinson, and Wilcox.
