Larne (from Irish Latharna, [ˈl̪ˠahəɾˠn̪ˠə], the name of a Gaelic territory) [1] [2] [3] is a town on the east coast of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, with a population of 18,853 at the 2021 census. [4] It is a major passenger and freight roll-on roll-off port. [5] Larne is administered by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
