The Delhi–Saharanpur–Dehradun Expressway, also known as National Highway 709B (NH 709B), [2] [3] is an under-construction, 210 kilometres (130 mi) long, 12/6 lane access-controlled expressway, which will connect Delhi, the national capital of India, with Dehradun, the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Kipling Trail (also known as Kipling Road) is the old walking route that connects Dehradun with the hill station of Mussoorie in India. It was the only means of reaching Mussoorie before the cart roads, for tongas , or roads for automobiles were constructed.

Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board, in Dehradun city in the Dehradun district of the Indian state Uttarakhand. It is about 35 kilometres (22 mi) from the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km (180 mi) north of the national capital of New Delhi .
This 46-kilometre-long (29 mi) highway links Dehradun in Uttarakhand with Saharanpur on NH 344 in Uttar Pradesh. [1] It is a part of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.

The project was initiated again in 1921, when the Mussoorie Electric Tramway Company Ltd was formed to set up a tram line from Dehradun to Mussoorie. [5] The tram line was to start from the railway station and reach Mussoorie passing through Rajpur road, Dilaram Bazaar, Rajpur, Makherti, Oak-Grove, Fairlawn and Barlowganj. [4]
Chakrata can be reached from Dehradun via Mussoorie or Vikasnagar passing through kalsi Gate (where Ashoka Stumbh is situated). Both routes pass through beautiful mountainous roads. Travelling in the monsoon can be tricky as the area sees frequent road blockages due to landslides. The area has an abundance of conifers, rhododendrons and oaks.
