The Great Falls Historic District encompasses the remains of an early 19th-century mill hamlet in Windham, Maine.On the east bank of the Presumpscot River north of Windham Center Road are a cluster of three houses from the period, as well as the archaeological remains (most visibly building foundations) of a few mills that lined the river at the falls just north of the road.
State Route 26 (abbreviated SR 26) is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways. It is a major interregional route running for 95.90 miles (154.34 km) from downtown Portland northwest to the New Hampshire border near Upton , where it connects to New Hampshire Route 26 .
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km 2), of which 2.4 square miles (6.2 km 2) was land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km 2), or 5.18%, was water. It was divided between the towns of Gorham (the Little Falls side) and Windham (the South Windham side), and straddles the Presumpscot River.
