A grease fitting, grease nipple, Zerk fitting, grease zerk, Alemite fitting, or divit is a metal fitting used in mechanical systems to feed lubricants, usually lubricating grease, into a bearing under moderate to high pressure using a grease gun.
Lincoln patented the first lever grease gun to work with a full stroke operation called the Model 1242. This meant that a hand-held grease gun could generate up to 10,000 lbf/in² (70 MPa) of pressure. This edit by 75.131.110.5 removed every mention of the inventor of the grease fitting, Oscar Ulysses Zerk, and the word Zerk. This seems like vandalism.
