Albert H. McGeehan (born October 1944), was mayor of Holland, Michigan from 1993–2009. He is an Eagle Scout and was awarded the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 2009. [1] He was born on Staten Island and grew up in Edison and Metuchen, NJ, and then moved to Holland to attend Hope College and graduated in 1966.
The city chose contractor James Huntley to build the fire station, and work began in August 1883. [2] The building was substantially completed by the end of 1883, but some finishing was left in 1884. The building served as the city hall and fire station for the city until the 1910s, when a new city hall was constructed.
Water from Lake Michigan is filtered at a facility in Park Township on the city's northside. The plant has a capacity of 38.5 million gallons per day. 230 miles (370 km) of pipe provide water to the City of Holland and portions of three neighboring townships (Park, Laketown and Holland Charter).
