Catahoula Parish ( French: Paroisse de Catahoula) is a parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,906. [1] Its seat is Harrisonburg, [2] on the Ouachita River. The parish was formed in 1808, shortly after the United States acquired this territory in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.

Jonesville is the largest town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, United States, at the confluence of the Ouachita, Tensas, and Little rivers. The three rivers become the Black River at Jonesville. The Jonesville population was 2,265 at the 2010 census. [4] The four rivers which intersect near Jonesville are all subject to flooding.

The Marengo Plantation House is a historic plantation house in unincorporated Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, west of Jonesville, Louisiana behind the Little River levee. The house was built in the 1850s and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

[ 2 ] Before it was destroyed for bridge approach fill in 1931, the main mound at Troyville was one of the tallest in North America.
