The Santa Clara Broncos are athletic teams that represent Santa Clara University. The school colors are red and white. The nicknames for teams is The Broncos and the student fans are referred to as the "Ruff Riders". The Broncos compete in the NCAA Division I (NCAA) as members of the West Coast Conference of which Santa Clara is a charter member.
In 2005, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and UC Santa Cruz joined the league, followed by Cal State Fullerton and the readmittance of San Jose State in 2006. That same year, the USLIA reorganized into the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).
Before the 2019 MCLA season, there were many changes to conferences. The Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association and the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League agreed to merge into the Continental Lacrosse Conference, while the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference merged with the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference and Lone Star Alliance.
