Akuma (Japanese: 悪魔, meaning "Devil", "Demon"), known in Japan as Gouki (豪鬼, lit. "Great Demon"), is a fictional character from the Street Fighter series of fighting games created by Capcom. Akuma made his debut in Super Street Fighter II Turbo as a secret character and an alternative boss to the villain M. Bison.
Gouki is battling his master Goutetsu. Though they are evenly matched, Gouki emerges victorious and kills Goutetsu using the Raging Demon technique. Gouken arrives to find Goutetsu's mangled body and Gouki, who now looks inhuman. Gouken scorns Gouki, telling him that his path was set for him and asking why he would do such a thing.
