Website. www.southeastern.edu. Southeastern Louisiana University (Southeastern) is a public university in Hammond, Louisiana. It was founded in 1925 by Linus A. Sims as Hammond Junior College. Sims succeeded in getting the campus moved to north Hammond in 1928, when it became known as Southeastern Louisiana College.
The Lions represent Southeastern Louisiana University in the NCAA's Southland Conference. Southeastern Louisiana began competing in intercollegiate basketball in 1947. [ 1 ] However, the school's record book does not generally list records from before the 1950s, as records from before this period are often incomplete and inconsistent.

The team finished its first season 5–7 and posted a 7–4 mark in 2004. The program had a big 51–17 win over #6 McNeese State and entered the Top 25 in the national I-AA rankings. Southeastern Louisiana ranked first among NCAA Division I-AA teams in total offense per game (537.1 yards) and passing offense per game (408 yards) in 2003.
