The history of advertising can be traced to ancient civilizations. It became a major force in capitalist economies in the mid-19th century, based primarily on newspapers and magazines. In the 20th century, advertising grew rapidly with new technologies such as direct mail, radio, television, the internet, and mobile devices.
These problems led to a progressive decline of the company from 1794, becoming practically inoperative at the late 18th to early 19th century. The company ceased its functions in 1829, after the loss of the Spanish colonial empire American territories, and was declared extinct by decree of October 6, 1834 during the regency of Isabella II.
