I have had 5 hip replacement or major revision surgeries, without such serious issues, but I did have outer thigh pain for a time on one side. Like your doc, my surgeon said "the hip is perfect" - that is their area of expertise/concern. A number of other people get the same response when complaining about pain, tightness, etc after joint surgery.
I had a hip replacement 4 months ago and from the day after surgery I have horrible pain in my upper front thigh/groin area. Come to find out the surgeon fractured my femur but didn’t tell us, I found out a month after when I ended up in the er with horrible pain they thought was an infection in the hip, they found the fracture in a ct scan.
I moved your message to this thread started a little while ago by @Cjropes who was also experiencing sharp thigh pain after hip replacement surgery. I'm also tagging members @marysapp @marikat @stumpy @learningtolive2 who have had hip replacement surgery so that they can join the discussion.
I had total left hip replacement in May of 2019. Anterior approach, first few months went well but now I’m experiencing a burning and tingling feeling at the incision sight to the middle of the thigh. Top of hip feels tight most days and side is numb. In October I came down with chronic hives and a B6 toxicity and diagnosed with Hashimoto.
I had a right posterior approach partial hip replacement after being knocked over by a person at baggage claim 5 months ago. (six months earlier I had had a right TKR ) After the surgery I’ve consistently had thigh pain that comes and goes so and numbness from the knee to the ankle.
Your comments reassure me. I, too, have thigh pain in the repaired hip, a year after surgery. I suspect it is muscular. My foot also swells from time to time. I had pulmonary emboli and am on anti-coagulants now for the rest of my life. Its a journey, right folks!
Thigh pain, groin pain and knee pain in a replaced knee started a few weeks after hip replacement. I also have lymphedema that started at the same time. Unidentified bumps , slightly painful, came and went, and a hematoma in the thigh was identified and drained during an ultrasound.
Hi. I fractured my hip in 2016 and had a hip replacement. I too get muscle spasms and pain in my thigh after being on my feet too long or walking for too long. My doctor can't explain it either. I am going to physical therapy now and hope it helps.
2016 I had total hip replacement via posterior approach. 2017 I had total hip replacement anterior approach. The posterior approach side constantly hurts, but I get intense pain under load (walking, stair climbing, uneven ground), and the intense pain also makes it impossible to sleep at night.
54-year-old male that had anterior left hip replacement back in Nov 2015 due to an accident. After the surgery I have developed pressure in that hip, feels like swelling or the replacement feel like its bulging especially at night and I have developed a limp. Since the surgery I also have what I call flare ups once or twice a month.
