  2. How does GFR move up and down so dramatically?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/how-does-gfr-move-up-and-down-so-dramatically

Hello! I've been reading many posts saying GFR has improved pretty dramatically. I was told kidneys do not repair themselves or get better. I have a good diet (for almost 10 years), being healthy, and exercising. My weight is 133 lbs. Other bloodwork is normal, sodium, potassium, CO2, cholesterol...all normal. But my GFR continues to go down.

  3. GFR estimates: How can I improve them? | Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/grf-estimates

End-stage renal disease usually occurs when kidney function is less than 10 percent of normal. As a part of kidney disease staging, your doctor also may test whether protein is present in your urine. Stage 1 GFR 90 or above = Normal or near-normal kidney function. Stage 2 GFR 60 to 89 = Mild loss of kidney function.

  4. Understanding GFR and kidney disease: What's normal?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/gfr

Go to the Kidney & Bladder Support Group. @bugsowen, as you likely know, Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) tells how much kidney function you have. It may be estimated from your blood level of creatinine. Living with kidney disease means patients become professional GFR readers.

  5. Normal eGFR for my age? - Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/normal-egfr-for-my-age

A recent blood test result said my eGFR is 99, my albumin is 4.9, my globulin is 2.2, my A/G ratio is 2.2, and creatinine is 0.85. I know these are all in the normal range, but according to Mayo Clinic, CDC, and the National Kidney Foundation, I thought someone of my age should have a higher eFGR (more like 116).

  6. What to do if EGFR is 19? | Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/what-to-do-if-egfr-is-19

There are 2 main kidney tests that are used to determine eGFR. Most nephrolologists use eGFR as a formula for muscle mass of your creatinine level. The second test for eGFR is called called Cystatin C. This test measures, in part, any heart or diabetes issues related to your kidney disease.

Thank you so much for responding~ I really appreciate it. I should mention my Creatinine was .095 (Normal) on Aug.24, and on Sept. 11 it was 1.05, a bit over average. My eGFR was 68 on Aug.24, and dropped to 60 on Sept.11.- On August 24 my Albumin was 3.6(Normal) my Platelets were 227(Normal) My WBC was 3.6(Below Average).

  8. How can I stabilize or improve my eGFR? | Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/how-can-i-stabilize-or-improve-my-egfr

Hi, my eGFR came down from 38 to 28. My nephrologist put me on spironolactone 25mg to replace my Verapamil 180 mg, to stabilize my blood pressure in the morning. I have changed my diet to non beef, pork and other high phosphorous foods. I do regular exercise walking and sleep well. I’m not diabetic.

  9. How can I improve my creatinine levels? | Mayo Clinic Connect

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/creatinine-1

Your creatine of 1.32 is higher than the normal range. It can reflect some kidney damage but that number is used in conjunction with the Blood Urea Nitrogen level (BUN) and the Glomerular filtration rate (GFR), which is the best indicator for kidney function.

  10. Reason for GFR level to fluctuate from 20 to 57?

    connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/reason-for-gfr-level-to-fluctuate-from-20-to-57

Ginger, Volunteer Mentor | @gingerw | Feb 25 1:23am. @aihtnyc as you have read, there can be reasons for fluctuations in eGFR [kidney function]. Dehydration, having an infection, reaction to a medication, an underlying comorbidity that is acting up can all be factors.
