Cambridge Audio is a British manufacturer of audio equipment including headphones, audio systems and components. It was founded in Cambridge , England in the early 1960s as Cambridge Consultants. The company is now independently owned by James Johnson-Flint, and is based in London as a brand of Audio Partnership .
In 1997 Cambridge Soundworks was bought by then Creative Labs. [2] Eventually, Cambridge SoundWorks manufactured over 60 different models of home stereo, home theater, multimedia speakers and assorted electronics products. Its products were designed in California, with Research and Development and Acoustic Engineering in Massachusetts.
This range was extended in 2007 to include a 5.1 AV variant, [8] and later a 2.1 version [9] and a smaller 'Mini' version. To complete the line-up, speakers were launched to match the Solo electronics. First were the 'Alto' two-way speakers for the stereo units, then a sub/satellite speaker system called Muso/Logo was released for the AV versions.

The LS3/5A is a commercially produced loudspeaker driven by the need of the BBC to monitor and assess broadcast programme quality. It was derived from the LS3/5, which was conceived and developed by the BBC Engineering Department in the early 1970s, when it was under the stewardship of Dudley Harwood. [2]
