The history of organised European colonisation on the islands began when settlers from the Danish East India Company arrived in the Nicobar Islands on 12 December 1755. Ross Island, officially named Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep, [6] is an island of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
