Neyland Stadium (/ ˈ n iː l ə n d / NEE-lənd) [3] is a sports stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. It serves primarily as the home of the Tennessee Volunteers football team, but is also used to host large conventions and has been a site for several National Football League (NFL) exhibition games.
It is one of two WPA stadiums in Tennessee that are still in use, the other being Crump Stadium in Memphis. [2] Construction of Bristol Municipal Stadium began in 1934 and was completed in 1936. The construction cost of $34,000 was shared between the federal government and the city of Bristol. [3] The stadium opened on October 8, 1936. [2]
