The Race of Champions Touring Series has grown to a family of stock car racing series on both dirt and asphalt including asphalt modifieds, dirt and asphalt sportsman, late models, super stock and the 4 cylinder dash. It was nominated for and won Best Touring Series on the 51's (which is an annual fan voted awards) for the 2017 season.

The most common variations (on paved tracks) include super late models (SLMs), pro Late models (PLMs), late model stock cars (LMSCs), and limited late models (LLMs). A late model may be a custom built machine, or a heavily modified streetcar.

Under Steve Dale, the ASA purchased a fairly new Midwest-based late model series called the US Pro Series. The series used "crate" engines and "template" bodies to help develop a new "Approved Body Configuration" template for race cars. The standardized bodies saved money for teams at every track which wasn't a NASCAR-sanctioned track.
The OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model Series was a division in OSCAAR for 27 seasons. The cars consisted of a low-cut, flat-sided late model chassis that were offset to the drivers side for better cornering on oval tracks and allowed the greatest horsepower of any Ontario stock car division. The series final season was in 2017.
The Late Model Series was reacquired by Varney, while other assets were sold to Racing Speed Associates, led by Dennis Huth. In December 2007, Dennis Huth filed a lawsuit against the ASA Late Model Series seeking to invalidate and cancel the ASA Late Model Series trademark registration.
