In February 2012, GE announced studies on a more efficient derivative of the GE90, calling it the GE9X, to power both the -8 and -9 variants of the new Boeing 777X.It was to feature the same 128 in (325 cm) fan diameter as the GE90-115B with thrust decreased by 15,800 lbf (70 kN) to a new rating of 99,500 lbf (443 kN) per engine. [1]
The actual voltage, matching the car battery's voltage, will be approximately 12.5 volts when dormant (less in cold conditions), approximately 14.5 volts when the engine and the alternator/generator are operating (more when cold), and may briefly drop as low as 5–6 volts during engine start due to the high temporary battery current usage. GEnx on 747-8I prototype. As of 2016, the GEnx and the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 were selected by Boeing following a run-off between the three big engine manufacturers. The GEnx uses some technology from the GE90 turbofan, [1] including swept composite fan blades and the 10-stage high-pressure compressor (HPC) featured in earlier variants of the engine.
The Rolls-Royce Trent XWB is a high-bypass turbofan produced by Rolls-Royce Holdings. In July 2006, the Trent XWB was selected to exclusively power the Airbus A350. [2] The first engine was run on 14 June 2010, [3] it first flew on an A380 testbed on 18 February 2012, [4] was certified in early 2013, [5] and first flew on an A350 on 14 June 2013. [6]
The first General Electric-powered Boeing 777 was delivered to British Airways on November 12, 1995. [15] The aircraft, with two GE90-77Bs, entered service five days later. Initial service was affected by gearbox bearing wear concerns, which caused the airline to temporarily withdraw its 777 fleet from transatlantic service in 1997.
This battery, introduced in 1901, was very common in continental Europe until the 1970s. It usually contains three B cells in series. In Switzerland as of 2008, 4.5-volt batteries account for only 1% of primary battery sales. [89] PP3, 9-volt, or E [90] Radio battery Smoke alarm battery Square battery Transistor battery 006P MN1604
A typical 12 V, 40 Ah lead-acid car battery. An automotive battery, or car battery, is a rechargeable battery that is used to start a motor vehicle.. Its main purpose is to provide an electric current to the electric-powered starting motor, which in turn starts the chemically-powered internal combustion engine that actually propels the vehicle.
Although the nominal voltage of a 12 V lead acid battery is 12 V DC, when the engine is running the car's battery charging system will bring the system voltage to 13.8 V DC or higher. [10] The possible range of battery voltages from 11–15 V DC must be taken into account by devices attached to the cigar lighter socket.
