Pachypodium rosulatum is a shrubby perennial caudiciform plant with a bottle-shaped trunk, brownish silver and almost spineless, about 10–15 centimetres (3.9–5.9 in) wide and about 20–35 centimetres (7.9–13.8 in) tall.
Pachypodium namaquanum, also known as halfmens or elephants trunk, is a Southern African succulent plant in the family Apocynaceae. [3] [4] The genus name Pachypodium is from the Greek for 'thick foot', an allusion to its swollen base, while the species name namaquanum is a reference to Namaqualand.
Beaucarnea recurvata, the elephant's foot [4] or ponytail palm, [5] is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae. The species was native to numerous states of eastern Mexico but is now confined to the state of Veracruz. [1] [6] Despite its common name, it is not closely related to the true palms .
This is a very successful indoor plant where it is too tender to be grown outdoors, and thrives on "healthy neglect". It prefers not to be in full sun, but is very tolerant of under-watering, and flowers better if restricted in a small pot. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. [5] [6]
Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, the elephant foot yam [4] or whitespot giant arum, [5] [6] is a tropical plant native to Island Southeast Asia.It is cultivated for its edible tubers in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Madagascar, New Guinea, and the Pacific islands.
