Some do so earlier though, even as young as five months old. Most veterinarians recommend spaying and neutering pet cats at the age of 4-5 months, considering the waiting time for the procedure and possible delays. In fact, SpayUSA.com reports that the average age for pets to be neutered or spayed is 4 months.
Sometimes it is possible to feel the suture material from the muscle and subcutaneous layers, and the place where the vets tie it off often feels like a little, movable lump. The size of the lump is about 1.5 inches bulging down when she is standing. The location is about half inch above the incision. Jun 1, 2021. #4.
My beautiful cat Allie was just spayed on June 23rd, but was an emergency procedure due to the fact that she had a severe uterine infection. Her uterus was the size of a silver dollar & the normal size is about half the width of a pencil! I JUST noticed tonight, that her mammary glands are swollen.
Ask how many spay/neuter procedures the vet has done and how many they do in a day. Monitoring and Pre-Surgery Tests. I‘m a new cat mom of a 7 month old classic tabby, Mishka. I’ve had her just over a month and she just got spayed last Friday. She had a laser spay and internal stitches so there are no exposed threads to chew on.... however the vet requires her to wear a cone for 10 days. First night, she takes the soft cone off within 10 minutes of being ...
Top Cat. Cats OFTEN have this problem after anesthesia or an antibiotic, make sure she is getting lots of water, offer it in bowls around the house. Plain yogurt is good, they usually eat that, dry food needs more moisture offered. Give her some broth or tuna juice, she'll probably like that.
Oct 23, 2009. Messages. 48. Purraise. 1. My cat Mittens got spayed 3 days ago. At first she was doing great, besides licking her incision. We had to put an e-collar on her, and she's been crated in a 3ftx3ft dog crate since she got home on Sunday since they said she needed to have restricted movement. She was eating/drinking fine.
Adult Cat. When kittens nurse they knead and their dirty little paws could be all over mom's incision which is both painful and dangerous. However, if you are now a week post-op, the wound should have healed enough that no new bacteria would be introduced into the wound. We had a stray momma and her babies here.
17,129. Purraise. 24,162. Location. Nebraska, USA. Have never used a cone. When I get the outdoor cats spayed, the vet vaccinates and gives them an injection of antibiotics that lasts a week. For the ones that show up daily to eat, I just give the dose then in a SMALL amount of tuna juice then feed them when they eat that.
After four days she is okay to jump up on the bed. As long as you supervise the interaction with the other cats it should be okay. A bit of hissing is normal and will usually subside after a day or two once they get used to each others' presence.
