Rison, officially the City of Rison, is a city in and the county seat of Cleveland County, [3] Arkansas, United States. Its population was 1,344 at the 2010 U.S. census. [4] It is included in the Pine Bluff, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rison is a bedroom community for people who work in Pine Bluff (in neighboring Jefferson County).
A senior at Blake High School, Lok was recognized for the script for "Music Piracy", a video documentary about the legality of downloading music from the Internet. Lok served as the lead producer of the documentary. [11] In 2004, Blake High School's principal, Carole C. Goodman, received the Mark Mann Excellence and Harmony Award.
New Edinburg is located in southwestern Cleveland County. [2] Arkansas Highway 8 passes through the community, leading northwest 11 miles (18 km) to Fordyce and southeast 15 miles (24 km) to Warren. Rison, the county seat, is 18 miles (29 km) north via Highways 8, 97, and 79.
Rison School District was a school district headquartered in Rison, Arkansas. It operated Rison Elementary School and Rison High School. Its mascot was the wildcat. [1] It included the community of Staves. [2] On July 1, 2004, it consolidated with the Kingsland School District to form the Cleveland County School District. [3]
