The Manchester Unity of Oddfellows (RNLI Official Number 960) was an Oakley-class lifeboat of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) [1] [2] stationed at Sheringham in the English county of Norfolk [3] from 10 July 1961 until 1990 when she was replaced after 29 years service by an Atlantic 75 second generation Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) in May 1992.
In 2012 the National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded a grant to Rescue Wooden Boats £99.300 [9] towards the restoration of the Lucy Lavers. The restoration was completed in time for the lifeboat to return to Dunkirk under her own steam to join the 75th anniversary celebrations of Dunkirk evacuation in May 2015.
