Nissan NAPS Nissan Anti Pollution System, predecessor to Nissan ECCS; Nissan PLASMA (Powerful ＆ Economic, Lightweight, Accurate, Silent, Mighty, Advanced) is an acronym for the engine series designed to counter Toyota's Lightweight Advanced Super Response Engine (LASRE). Nissan ECC is the Exhaust Gas Recirculator or EGR.
The SR engine is a series of 1.6 L (1,596 cc), 1.8 L (1,838 cc) or 2.0 L (1,998 cc) straight-four, four-stroke gasoline engines manufactured by Nissan. It has an aluminium head and block with steel sleeves and has a DOHC 4-valve design, with variable valve timing on select models.
There have been two main versions of this engine. The first version made 187 hp (139 kW) and 145 lb⋅ft (197 N⋅m) torque. This engine was used by Nissan from 1997 to 2001. It is found in the Nissan Primera, Nissan Bluebird, and the Nissan Wingroad. The second variant of the SR20VE is found only in the 2001 and later P12 Nissan Primera.
The first Nissan/Jatco transmission, the Jatco 3N71 transmission, used a simple naming scheme: the "3" meant "3-speed", and the remainder was the series number.

In the new Nissan X-Trail, Qashqai and C-Platform Sentra, the MR20DE produces 108 kW; 145 hp (147 PS) at 5100 rpm and 199 N⋅m (147 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4800 rpm. Middle East version of the MR20DE engine that goes in the Nissan Qashqai produces 110 kW; 148 hp (150 PS) at 5200 rpm and 200 N⋅m (148 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4400 rpm.
The SR20DET is a 2.0 L (1,998 cc) straight-four four-stroke gasoline engine that is part of the SR family of engines from Nissan, produced from 1989 to 2002.It is a turbocharged version of the SR20DE engine and is a replacement of the CA18DET engine.
