José L. Hernández (born 27 August 1958) is a Mexican mariachi musician.. Hernández is the youngest of eight children (Esteban and Maria Eva Hernández, parents). He is the founder of Mariachi Sol de Mexico and also Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, [1] America's first all-female professional mariachi ensemble.

In 1950, Nati Cano joined a mariachi band in the city of Mexicali, Baja California, as an arranger. [1] Cano was younger than any of the other members at the time. [1] The group later relocated to Los Angeles, California, based out of a restaurant Nati founded as well, named "La Fonda de Los Camperos."
The band toured North America, followed by a festival performance in the United Kingdom. A second album of mariachi music, Mariachi El Bronx, was released in August 2011. Several members of the band also appear on the debut EP by Armistice, a Canadian indie pop band consisting of Coeur de pirate and Jay Malinowski. [9]
