Cathedral Preparatory School (often referred to simply as Prep) is a private, Roman Catholic, college-preparatory high school for girls and boys in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. It was established in 1921 by Archbishop John Mark Gannon and is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie .
The Benedictine Sisters of Erie began the first Catholic high school for women in the city of Erie, St. Benedict Academy. The school opened in 1869 with one teacher, two students and a tuition of $1/month. The curriculum consisted of Christian Doctrine, English, Sacred History, Drawing, Music and Embroidery.
The next bishop of Erie was Auxiliary Bishop John Gannon of Erie, named by Pope Benedict XV in 1920. Gannon founded Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie in 1921, St. Joseph's Home for Children in 1923 and Mercyhurst College in Erie in 1926.
