Arthur E. Thompson. Arthur Edwin Thompson (September 19, 1891 – September 21, 1969) was a North Dakota politician and teacher who served as the North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1933 to 1946.
He attended Washburn College, where he was a member of Alpha Delta Fraternity, the yearbook editor and designer. He graduated in 1934 with a degree in economics and a minor in art. [1] [2] [3] A facility called the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center now stands at Washburn. In 1938, Thompson designed the college's mascot, The Ichabod. [4]
