Cebu Normal University (Cebuano: Unibersidad Normal sa Sugbo), also referred to by its acronym CNU, is a state research university in Cebu City, Philippines [2] established in 1902. CNU is designated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Center of Excellence (COE) in both Nursing Education and Teacher Education.
The university once had a South Campus (Basak Campus) on E. Sabellano St., Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City. The South Campus has since closed and has been in operation by another school. The closed South Campus formerly housed the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and the Elementary and High School Training Departments.
The university, since its founding in 1911, was also previously known as Cebu Trade School, Cebu School of Arts and Trades, and Cebu State College of Science and Technology, until, in 2009, by the virtue of Republic Act 9744, it was converted into a state university, and assuming the name Cebu Technological University. [2]
