Santaniello hopped into the rankings after his win over Lehigh veteran Malyke Hines. Lemus has been impressive in his own right, but is still looking for a signature victory. Also expect good matches at 133, 157, 184, and 285 lbs.
Reminder: I use Intermat, Flo, and Wrestlestat individual rankings. I treat the rankings like they are seeds. EP (expected points) are based on the average advancement and placement points scored by each seed from 2010 - 2022. Max Place & Adv assume each wrester wrestles to seed and takes the...
True freshmen Luke Stanich and Braeden Davis were added to the 125 lb rankings. They make a deep weight even deeper. Their addition is why some wrestlers who might be coming off a win or two, but still dropped a place or two this week. On that same note, Tyler Kasak has been added at 149 lbs.
The new season is almost here, which means pre-season rankings are finally available. I have updated my expected points by seed and probability of AA by seed to reflect results from the 16 and 33 seed eras (2014 - 2024). At least for now I did this using both Intermat and Wrestlestat rankings. I may, or may not, keep doing that.
Flo and Wrestlestat's rankings seem high on Sasso given all that has happened. Geog had a rough end to last year and already has a lose this year, so who knows. And with Kharchla yet to wrestle after coming off injury he is another who knows. To me Ohio State is the most intriguing team this year.

Using the most recent rankings available from Intermat and Wrestlestat lets take a look at The Illini by the numbers. First, what does Intermat have against our Illini? Other than the too formal Zach, Wrestlestat favors the Illini in 4 of the 10 weights and by 2.6 expected points overall.
Intermat dropped their new pre-season rankings a few hours ago and Wrestlestat did the same yesterday. There were a lot of line up changes and weight changes in both sets of rankings. The biggest movers in my expected points outcomes based on Intermat rankings were Nebraska (+6.9), Lock Haven (-8.8) and NC State (-11.1).
So far Intermat, Flo, and Wrestlestat have published their pre-season rankings. Intermat has Ferrari #1 at 197 Flo has him #4 behind Stephen Buchannan, Jacob Cardenas, and Rocky Elam, but ahead of Stephen Little (UALR), Isaiah Salazar (Minn), Michael Beard (Lehigh), and Silas Allred (Neb). Wrestlestat has him #67 behind a list too long to type.
