Log Cabin is located in western Henderson County and bordered to the south by Caney City. Texas State Highway 198 passes through the west side of Log Cabin, leading northwest 14 miles (23 km) to Mabank and south 4 miles (6 km) to Malakoff. Athens, the Henderson county seat, is 13 miles (21 km) to the east by road.
The Texas Wendish Heritage Museum is housed in Serbin on the St. Paul church grounds. Occupying three independent buildings including a former St. Paul parochial school building, the museum also has two outdoor exhibits of an intact log cabin and part of a dogtrot house. Eventually, the Sorbian language in Serbin was replaced by German and English.

In April 1993, the "Friends" moved the building to 601 Park Street, where it remained for ten years until it was donated to the City of Fort Worth. On September 16, 2003, the Marine School was moved to its present location at Log Cabin Village. The relocation was a critical move in preservation of a historic structure and a Fort Worth landmark. In 1984, it belonged to Mrs. Tom Foster, who donated it to the Sons of the Republic of Texas, who in turn donated to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
