Particularly in the Hearthfire houses, I notice my apiary isn't replenishing, and the mead dispenser in my cellar isn't refilling. Also, the soul gems in the Arch mage quarters. Do these items respawn without resetting your decorations? I do a moderate amount of decorating my houses and would prefer to keep my stuff over replenishing these items.

DLC stands for Down Loaded Content but it is on the Legendary edition disc so can be installed from there. If the add on Hearthfire is not installed when you load up a save that had the house and stuff it will state the message you saw to alert you that something is missing and all items that were part of that DLC will be gone, most likely the actual DLC add on Heartfire which is where the ...

All of the Hearthfire houses seem to be magnets for random attacks. Which sucks, because my poor carriage driver died. :( You can equip your followers with better armor and weapons so they can win. There is no quest for them losing. Most of the time, they are "protected," as in, it is rare for them to die unless you hit them.

The Hearthfire homes will respawn in-world items after 10 days. In order to prevent an item respawn, you must continually visit the cell within the respawn window - in other words, never stay away from the interior of your HF home (including the basement) longer than 10 in-game days.
