The club was founded as OFC Etar Veliko Tarnovo in 2013 [1] with the license of FC Botev Debelets. [2] In their first season they finished in 5th position in V Group . In January 2016, Boncho Genchev became the new manager of the team which was in 3rd place at the halfway point in the season, only two points behind the 1st place team. [ 3 ]

Stadion Ivaylo (Bulgarian: Стадион „Ивайло“, English: 'Ivaylo Stadium') is a multi-purpose stadium in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Etar Veliko Tarnovo. The stadium holds 18,000 people and was built in 1958.
Football Club Etar was created on 24 April 1924, as a result of a merger between six clubs from Veliko Tarnovo. In 1930 they reached the Bulgarian State Football Championship semi-finals, losing 4–2 to Slavia Sofia. Etar made its debut in the A Group during the 1969–70 season, earning a respectable sixth-place finish.

Etar crest used from 2002 to 2012. The club was founded as Etar 1924 in 2002, following severe financial problems plaguing the historical FC Etar, which folded in 2003. In their first season, they were promoted to B PFG as champions of the North-West V AFG.
