On 18 November 2013, it was confirmed that Centre, not the Uttar Pradesh State Government, would build the much delayed Delhi–Meerut Expressway starting from Nizamuddin Bridge on Ring Road. Once complete, commuters will be able to reach Meerut in 45 to 60 minutes and cut travel time to Haridwar and Dehradun by almost an hour. [21]

The Delhi–Saharanpur–Dehradun Expressway, also known as National Highway 709B (NH 709B), [2] [3] is an under-construction, 210 kilometres (130 mi) long, 12/6 lane access-controlled expressway, which will connect Delhi, the national capital of India, with Dehradun, the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The road is the part of National Highway network of India, and it is officially listed as running over 1465 km from Delhi to (Dankuni) Kolkata. The km in each of the states are Delhi (12), Haryana (74), Uttar Pradesh (752), Bihar (202), Jharkhand (190), West Bengal (235).
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, near Dehradun at a distance of 152 km via the Kotdwar-Haridwar road. Another route to Lansdowne is by road from Delhi via Meerut, Bijnor, Najibabad, Kotdwar and on to Lansdowne. It saves about 50 km. With the opening of Delhi-Merrut Expressway the road quality is mostly good.
