There are also several intercollegiate sports clubs such as men's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, surf team, Ultimate Frisbee and men's rugby. Pepperdine University (/ ˈ p ɛ p ər d aɪ n /) is a private Christian research university affiliated with the Churches of Christ with its main campus in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Pepperdine's main campus consists of 830 acres (340 ha) overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu, California.

Pepperdine defeated Georgia in the men's championship match, 4–2, to claim the Waves' first men's team national title. Meanwhile, three-time defending champions, and hosts, Stanford defeated Miami (FL) in the women's title match, 4–1, to claim their fifteenth team national championship.
This year's tournaments were hosted by Pepperdine University at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California. This was the first time the Waves hosted the women's championships. The men's and women's NCAA tennis championships would not be held jointly until 2006.
