We have a set on a 2014 Grand Cherokee. They are the best tires we have had by far. We have also had the OE Michelin Latitude, Firestone Destination LE2 and Cooper Discoverer AT3. They have outlasted any of the other tires. The wet and snow traction is also significantly better than any of the previous tires. Snow traction is downright impressive.
The Michelin LTX A/S is a durable, premium, highway all-season light truck tire designed to meet new vehicle Original Equipment requirements. The LTX A/S was developed to provide particularly smooth, even wear, low noise and good fuel efficiency, even in demanding commercial applications.
The reason I bring this up is that Michelin is now making certain tires, sold at Costco, with only 6/32 tread depth. Not a good thing in the heavy rains of South Florida. So the X-Tour A S tires look like any other Michelin passenger car tire, and they drive/handle exactly as one would expect from very pedestrian Michelin car tires.
Michelin were just as big scumbags, they stated every dealer would have a Pax machine, very few were ever delivered, instead owners had no option but to buy complete exchange used wheels and new tires already mounted from them for almost 3K a set, average life for these tires was 20K or less.
I'm on my 5th set of Michelin Defender LTX/MS tires. I think they're Outstanding Tires, and very Quiet I run them on the Highway in Rain and Snow from Seattle to Key West on my 2011 Ford Expedition EL King Ranch 4x4 with 346,000 miles.
Anyone have Michelin Defender tires and find them noisy? My daughter had a set recently put on her 10 Yaris by Discount Tire and then a second set but still complains about the noise. Is it possible your daughter's Yaris has an alignment issue that is causing the tires to wear funny? The Yaris has a rear camber spec of almost 1 degree.
I just bought new Michelin M&S2 tires with a date code of 4210. Just made! F. FZ1. Joined Feb 7, 2008 ...
Michelin XLT Defender M/S =Costco Michelin X LT A/S They are the same tire, just different marketing since the A/S is a club only tire... Even the Michelin site lists it as a "club" tire, what ever that means.
The Wife's Armada came with 20" factory wheels and Michelin tires from the factory (defenders I think). They were terrible tires, got 30K out of them rotating and balancing every 6K. After much research, went with Nexen Rodian RA8 ATs to replace them, great tires and lasted 65K, on our second set of the Rodians now.
The X LT A/S is slightly cheaper than some other Michelin tires, but it is not a huge difference. There are not many on-line reviews about the club exclusive Michelin's, but of the ones out there, some claim the club exclusive tires are total garbage. Some say they are "seconds", "fake" Michelin's, low quality base materials, etc.
