This is a list of lakes and reservoirs in the U.S. state of Illinois. The lakes are ordered by their unique names, (i.e. Lake Smith or Smith Lake would both be listed under "S"). Swimming, fishing, and/or boating are permitted in some of these lakes, but not all.
The lake is the site of Horseshoe Lake State Park, which is 2,960 acres (12 km 2) in size. The lake is bordered by the towns of Madison and Granite City. The lake is located within Nameoki Township, about four miles east of St. Louis, Missouri.

Instead of being located in the relatively flat, rolling terrain characteristic of most of Illinois, the lake is located in an unglaciated zone of deep sandstone valleys and steep slopes. Devils Kitchen Lake is located in one of these valleys, and it is one of the deepest lakes in Illinois. Sections of the lake are as deep as 90 feet (27 m). [1]
Lake Shelbyville is a reservoir located in Shelby County, Illinois and Moultrie County, Illinois created by damming the Kaskaskia River at Shelbyville, Illinois. The lake's normal surface pool is 11,100 acres (44.9 km 2) at an elevation of 183 meters (600.4 ft). The area that surrounds the lake is the Shelbyville State Fish and Wildlife Area.

Lake Lou Yaeger is a 1,300-acre (530 ha) reservoir located in Montgomery County, Illinois. Created by damming the West Fork of Illinois's Shoal Creek, it was built for recreation, sport fishing, and flood control purposes. The lake is 8 miles (13 km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. The nearest town is Litchfield, Illinois (7 miles).
