The Ford E-Series (also known as the Ford Econoline, Ford Econovan or Ford Club Wagon) is a range of full-size vans manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for 1961 as the replacement of the Ford F-Series panel van, four generations of the model line have been produced.

Full-size van is a marketing term used in North America for a van larger than a minivan, that is characterized by a large, boxy appearance, a short hood, and heavy cargo and passenger-hauling capability. The first full-size van was the 1969 Ford Econoline, [citation needed] which used components from the Ford F-Series pickups.
In 1994, the North American Free Trade Agreement was established, which allowed for the exportation of the US produced Ford Econoline van to Mexican and South American markets due to more lenient trade laws. [47] This led to the discontinuation of the B-Series Carryall the same year, with it being unofficially replaced by the Econoline.
Based upon that, cutaway van chassis were developed in the early 1970s to accommodate demand for conversions which were heavier and wider than the standard production vans completed by the major auto and truck manufacturers (i.e. Chevrolet-GM, Dodge, and Ford).
