Rangiku Matsumoto (松本 乱菊, Matsumoto Rangiku) is the lieutenant of Squad Ten. [12] She often uses her beauty and large bust to avoid work and go shopping or drinking with her fellow lieutenants, but is very serious and thoughtful as a lieutenant when offering advice.
Hitsugaya and Matsumoto enter the Central 46 Chambers to find all of its occupants slain. Kira arrives, and Hitsugaya and Matsumoto pursue him. Hitsugaya returns when Kira tells him that Hinamori has entered the Central 46 Chambers. Ichimaru meets Hinamori and takes her further into the chambers, where she is reunited with Aizen.
Orihime organizes a barbecue to cheer up Nozomi and get her to open up to the others, however she runs away. Kon, Orihime, Uryū and Chad try to find her. A very concerned Kon eventually finds her, later leaving her in the care of Rangiku, but fails to realize that Rangiku is the impostor trying to capture Nozomi.
He attacks Rangiku, Sado, Ururu and Noba in Karakura Town and uses Baura to swallow Ururu, who is saved when Rangiku uses Kido to force the doll out of the ground. During the Soul Society invasion, he runs into Mayuri Kurotsuchi and fights him, dying after being poisoned by Ashisogi Jizo.

Rangiku convinces Hitsugaya to wait a day before sending him to the Soul Society. At night, Shōta attempts to steal Rangiku's zanpakutō, but she catches him. He reveals that he has to find someone, but is evasive about who it is. Before Rangiku can press the issue, the arrancar Ikkaku killed reappears.
