Lake Manatee State Park (Lake Manatee State Recreation Area) is a 556-acre (2.3 km 2) State Park in the U.S. state of Florida, located on the south shore of 2,400-acre (10 km 2) Lake Manatee. It is 9 miles (14 km) east of I-75 on State Road 64 in Bradenton. It is made up of pine flatwoods, Sand Pine scrub, marshes, and hardwood forests.
The Manatee River flows into the lake at the eastern end, then continues to the west, where it flows into Tampa Bay. Lake Manatee is a major source of water for Bradenton and other cities in Manatee County, providing 32 million US gallons (120,000,000 L; 27,000,000 imp gal) per day. Lake Manatee State Park is located on the south shore of the lake.
It was also SR 161 concurrently from Bradenton to Waterbury Road . [4] [5] The route was redesignated SR 64 in 1945 as a result of the 1945 Florida State Road renumbering. In 1957, SR 64 was extended west from Bradenton west to Perico Island and Anna Maria Island over the newly-built Palma Sola Causeway and Anna Maria Island Bridge. [6]

The Desoto Bridge was built in 1957 in an effort to realign US 41 and US 301 through Bradenton and Palmetto. Prior to 1957, those routes crossed the Manatee River a short distance downstream on the original Green Bridge (part of which has become a fishing pier after the Green Bridge was replaced in 1986). Nathan Benderson Park, previously known as North Metro Park and Cooper Creek Park, is a 600-acre (240 ha) park in the U.S. state of Florida, owned by Sarasota County. [1] It incorporates a 400-acre (160 ha) artificial lake in northern Sarasota County, directly south of the Manatee County county line, west of Interstate 75.
