Vertigo 2005: Live from Chicago (sometimes titled Vertigo '05: Live from Chicago) is a concert film by Irish rock band U2. It was filmed from 9–10 May 2005 at the United Center in Chicago , Illinois , during the band's Vertigo Tour .
The idea for the music video originated from director Joseph Kahn, and is based on Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, a film dealing with acrophobia, which the band were fans of. [2] In a June 28, 1997 issue of Billboard , Kahn said "I always thought Vertigo had an interesting music-video feel to it because of the rich graphics in the film."
The visuals used on the Vertigo Tour were displayed in the music video. The music video for "City of Blinding Lights" was shot at the General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia on 27 April 2005, and was directed by Alex Courtes and Martin Fougerol. The video included additional footage from the band's Vertigo Tour concert of 28 April 2005.
