Robert F. Kennedy's Day of Affirmation Address (also known as the "Ripple of Hope" Speech [1]) is a speech given to National Union of South African Students members at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, on June 6, 1966, on the University's "Day of Reaffirmation of Academic and Human Freedom".
A Ripple of Hope, a documentary on the speech and the events surrounding it, was produced by Covenant Productions at Anderson University and released in 2008. [26] It includes interviews with associates of Kennedy and members of the audience. The speech was performed verbatim by Linus Roache in the 2002 film RFK.
The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights foundation also presents Ripple of Hope Awards annually to business, entertainment, and activist leaders. The name of the award is inspired by Kennedy's Ripple of Hope speech in 1966. [1] [2] They first presented the award in 2007. [3]
