Leslie Thomas "Les" Lannom (born November 4, 1946, Johnston City, Illinois) [2] is an American actor and musician. [2] He is perhaps best known for playing Lester Hodges in the American private detective television series Harry O from 1974 to 1976, and his role as Sergeant Casper in the 1981 film Southern Comfort.
Lester Hodges and his mentor, Dr. Creighton Fong , work together to find the murderer of members of Lester's family. Harry is seen only in a supporting role, and is absent for long stretches of screen time, as this episode was a backdoor pilot intended to launch a spin-off series titled Fong and Hodges.
The movie was shot in Spain [12] over seventeen weeks. Locations included Segovia, where Lester had made A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Lester says the producers assembled 20 minutes of footage and sold the film to 20th Century Fox. [13] Lester says Michel Legrand "had about a week and a half" to write the music. [14]
