This list of accidents and incidents involving general aviation is grouped by the years in which the accidents or incidents occurred. "General aviation" here includes private as well as corporate aircraft operating under general aviation rules, i.e. not flights of airliners, commuter or military aircraft.
The Aviation Safety Reporting System, or ASRS, is the US Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) voluntary confidential reporting system that allows pilots, air traffic controllers, cabin crew, dispatchers, maintenance technicians, ground operations, and UAS operators and drone flyers to confidentially report near misses or close call events in the interest of improving aviation safety.
It was created for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Certification Service (AIR). ASKME was established to provide a comprehensive automation environment for critical safety business processes for the Office of Aviation Safety.
