Matthew James Adams (born August 31, 1988 [1] [2]) is an American former professional baseball first baseman. Nicknamed "Big City" for his imposing size and ability to regularly hit long home runs, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Adams in the 23rd round of the 2009 MLB draft from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania .
On April 9, 2022, Adams signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. [10] He suffered a calf injury in Week 5 and was placed on injured reserve on October 11. [11] He was activated on November 16. [12] For his one year with Chicago, Adams appeared in 10 games and recorded 22 tackles, the most tackles since his rookie year. [13]
