Unemployment insurance is funded by both federal and state payroll taxes. Craven County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina.As of the 2020 census, the population was 100,720. [1] Its county seat is New Bern. [2] The county was created in 1705 as Archdale Precinct from the now-extinct Bath County.

Bridgeton is located on the eastern shore of the Neuse River, directly across from the city of New Bern, the Craven County seat. U.S. Route 17 passes through the town and connects to New Bern via the massive Neuse River Bridge (opened 1999) across the Neuse River just south of the town limits.

The community is in southeastern Craven County, on the south bank of the tidal Neuse River.By land, it is reached by North Carolina Highway 306 (Ferry Road), which leads south 4 miles (6 km) to North Carolina Highway 101 at a point 5 miles (8 km) east of Havelock.
