St. Joseph's Teachers' College is a Roman Catholic teacher training college in Kingston, Jamaica. It was founded in 1897 by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, a religious order in the Roman Catholic Church in Jamaica. The college campus contains dormitories to accommodate students from more distant areas.
The college was established in September 1928. It was then known as the Teachers' Training Centre. Before 1928, local teachers traveled abroad for education, often in other Caribbean colleges such as Mico University College in Antigua, Shortwood Teachers College in Jamaica and Rawle College in Barbados. Santana Morris was born on 4 September 1990 in St. James, Jamaica. [2] She completed a diploma and a bachelor's degree in education with honors from Shortwood Teachers' College. She further earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology and a Master of Educational Leadership.
Her father was the founder of the Jamaica Union of Teachers and encouraged all of his children to become teachers, as there were few other opportunities open to black Jamaicans.
