Hindi film songs, more formally known as Hindi Geet or Filmi songs and informally known as Bollywood music, are songs featured in Hindi films.Derived from the song-and-dance routines common in Indian films, Bollywood songs, along with dance, are a characteristic motif of Hindi cinema which gives it enduring popular appeal, cultural value and context. Balasubrahmanyam's first work in Hindi films was, in Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981), [1] for which he received another National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. [2] In 1989, Balasubrahmanyam was the playback singer for actor Salman Khan in the blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya. [3]

The nine other songs had not been used in the film and as a token of good faith to the composer, Kamal Amrohi compiled these tracks and had them released by HMV as ‘Pakeezah Rang Barang’; an enchanting assortment of Thumri, Ghazal, Qawwali and Mujra fills the brim of this musical odyssey. This album was released exclusively by Saregama in 1977.
