Like all the singles from We Can't Dance, "Jesus He Knows Me" was released on two CDs as well as on vinyl editions. All formats featured the non-album track "Hearts on Fire" (later included on Genesis Archive 2: 1976–1992) as the primary B-side, while both CDs included an exclusive track.
Jesus loves me—this I know, For the Bible tells me so; Little ones to Him belong— They are weak, but He is strong. Refrain: Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me— The Bible tells me so! Jesus loves me—He who died Heaven's gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in. Refrain
Michael Licona suggests that John has redacted Jesus' authentic statements as recorded in Matthew, Mark and Luke. Where Matthew and Mark have Jesus quote Psalm 22:1, John records that "in order that the Scripture may be fulfilled, Jesus said, 'I am thirsty'." Jesus' final words as recorded in Luke are simplified in John into "It is finished." [12]
In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. The New International Version translates the passage as: "All things have been committed to me by my Father.
Jesus has just condemned the lengthy prayers of the Gentiles, and in this verse states that such prayers are unnecessary as God is aware of a person's desire even before they ask. A similar statement is made at Isaiah 65:24. This raises the question of why prayer is even necessary at all, and this issue has been much discussed by theologians.
Jesus predicts his betrayal three times in the New Testament, a narrative which is included in all four Canonical Gospels. [1] This prediction takes place during the Last Supper in Matthew 26:24–25, Mark 14:18–21, Luke 22:21–23, and John 13:21–30. [1] Before that, in John 6:70, Jesus warns his disciples that one among them is "a devil".
